On Sunday May 17thRwanda-VCP joined the International Community to celebrate the 26th International AIDS Candle Light Memorial, a program of the Global Health Council and one of the oldest and largest grassroots mobilization campaigns for HIV/AIDS awareness in the world. Started in 1983, the Candlelight Memorial takes place every third Sunday in May and is led by a coalition of some 1,200 community organizations in 115 countries hosting local memorials that honor the lost and raise social consciousness about the disease.

This year, for the third consecutive time, Rwanda-VCP organized the event in Butare city, in the southern Province of Rwanda.
Around 800 people participated in the Candle Light march which started from the Huye stadium, went through Huye town and came back to the stadium. Different activities were held at the stadium including speeches, testimonies, songs, dances and poems all of them reinforcing this year theme: "Together we are the solution".
